In the changing context the goal is to make micro finance a dispenser not just of credit but averity of social goods and service to the rural poor. They have manifested their feeling of self-worth and self-dignity, behavioral changes, communication skill, decision making capacity and above all participation in the life of the community. Livelihood, diversification in linking up with increased incomes and savings are critical to reducing vulnerability of rural communities. In all the programme villages, DRO Page 7 supports to formation and strengthening of SHGs. The basic premise is to encourage thrift among the women disables link up with the financial institutions. However these group provide a platform for bringing women together to discuss issues of common concern. Over time women gain confidence to articulate their concerns even in the large village meetings.
Formation of Self Help Group:
From the inception DRO has given stress on formation and strengthening of
self-help groups. Group formation gather momentum gradually as socio-economic
impact of involvement as stated to become visible. Meanwhile, the organization has
formed 09 SHGs and enhanced the capacity of its functionaries to work in micro
finance.
